A Florida man has won $500,000 from a $3 Power Play lottery ticket he bought in North Carolina — by playing numbers he found in a fortune cookie he received with a Chinese take-out order. “This was a good investment,” Ernesto Sorzano says of the rice and shrimp dinner he purchased. “Unbelievable. I’m just super happy that my dreams came true.”

Sorzano, whose prize came out to $353,751 after taxes, beat astronomical odds to win the money. Lottery officials say a purchaser of a Power Play ticket has a one-in-292 chance of winning.
