Team Blake Blood Drive

A “Team Blake” Blood Drive, in coordination with Community Blood Center, will be held at Keller Williams parking lot,  26410 SW SW Wannamaker Rd., Topeka, Kansas, on Sunday, April 9th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The public is asked to attend and donate blood to help bring awareness about the importance of maintaining adequate blood supply levels in the community for patients like Blake.

The need for blood never takes a holiday and neither do the hospitals that depend on life-saving blood products. The public can Schedule appointments for this drive (enter sponsor code: teamblake ).  Information may also be found on Team Blake facebook page.

“The demand for blood is constant— a community need that all of us can participate in filling,” said David Graham, Executive Director of Community Blood Center. “Blood donors are heroes in our eyes. They roll up their sleeves and do so without hesitation. Just one donation, one hour of your time, can touch up to two lives. Now is the time to step-up and donate.”

To meet patients’ need for blood and blood components, CBC requires approximately 580 donors every weekday. About one in seven hospital admissions requires a blood transfusion, and with a limited shelf life, supplies must be continually replenished.

More About Blood Donations:

The entire donation process takes less than an hour and a single donation can be used to save multiple lives. Donors with O-negative blood type, or “universal donors,” are especially encouraged to donate, as their blood can be used in emergencies.

If you cannot donate but still wish to participate in bringing crucial blood products to patients in need, please ask someone to donate for you, or consider volunteering at a local blood drive.

To donate you must be at least 16 years of age (parental consent required for 16-year-olds), weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in generally good health. In just 60 minutes, you can donate one pint of blood and Save a Life. Right Here, Right Now in your own community.
